  1. Chell reported unknown with the number 01616432295 as Harassment calls

lots of calls from Crime Prevention company they will just not give up even trying to con a colleague into saying yes when I have already told them no!!! Had similar experience previously by a different name and they actually only ever printed 12 copies of their newspaper which we had been asked to advertise in! This is how they can seem legal. These con-men need to be stopped

  2. XXoooXX reported Stevenson and Judge Ltd with the number +441616432295 as Harassment calls

Sean Fisher and his 'manager' Martin called 2nd Aug (pm) relentless, bullying, demanding money then wanted to discount! Had clearly stolen my details from a reputable charity and implied that their huge Art Dept had been working tirelessly. Could not email me a copy and hung up when I read out some of these posts and said I was going to report them to Trading Standards, Consumer Advice and the Police. All agencies notified and will investigate.

scam still operating. I have been getting calls from this lot claiming I had a conversation with them in July and that they had evidence of this and they now were ready to send out the publications for Police Crime Prevention. Sean Fisher became aggressive over the phone when I ask them to email me with details and when I asked him to confirm a telephone number I could call back on. I was contacted actually in July by a company called ePress, by Clive Morris, who claimed to sell adverts for publication for emergency services personnel. Both a scam, I am afraid!I was wondering if they were related as they seem to have been using similar details.

They either sell your details on or try & con you from a different angle.
  3. Billy reported unknown with the number +441616432295 as Harassment calls

Please everybody DO NOT pay a penny to these scam artists. Tell them to sod off!!

If you have said Yes to advertising still DO NOT PAY they will never be able to force a penny out of you so thell them and any debt collectors they "appoint" (it's really just them pretending to be debt collectors usually) the only way they will see a penny is they take you to court which will NEVER EVER happen. Even if they have a recording of you saying yes, They will never take you to court.

I have many a time played with these scam artists and even said yes to go along with their scam for a while and listen to amount of rubbish they chat just waiting to trip them up over something.

They often call and say they were speaking to you back in 'such a month,' they may even say there are the Police.
They will say you agreed to advertise in their publication and it is now ready to go to print. If you challenge them at this point they will say it cannot be cancelled etc.
The best course of action at this stage is to thell the guy, in no uncertain terms, where to go. If you would, for some reason, like to be more polite you may ask them to provide proof that they did indeed speak to you previously by way of recording.

If you accept that you are going in the publication on the first phone call, usually, a follow up call will be received by another person to 'confirm the details.' At this stage they will probably be recording the conversation in a bid to get you to agree to the terms. Now would be a good time to question the scamartist as to why he must get all your details etc if you have already agreed to the advert. Point out the fact that he is attempting to record a formal agreement and he has been busted. They may well try to use this recording to convince you that you have agreed to adverts when they call you in the future.

Even if you have said yes all the way to these Ba*ta*ds NEVER PAY THEM.

I have also had lots of the UK Business directory and Google listings related scams.

This was the first scam every tried on me (not the company in question, although you never know) and they said a load of rubbish and said some things about my 'google listing' asking if the 'keywords' were correct and if I wanted to make any changes. I had an ad with Yell and was unsure if it was related so just went along with it until they asked me for money. It went along the lines of "Well you have already paid the £199 but the directors are now increasing the time of the ad to 10years," due to some kind of government initiative,"we are just looking to take the final £199 off you today, how will you be paying sir? visa, mastercard, switch or solo?"

I questioned the caller as I was certain I had never had previous dealings or ever paid an invoice for anything like that as I personally do the books. I asked the caller when I exactly I had previously paid them but they stumbled and said they would send me an email with all the details and get back to me.

After that I fortunatly did some research on scams and became aware of this and a few others.

I have had at least 50 calls over the last 4 years all scams, Business directory scams, Police publications....Ha, don't worry your not in trouble.....haha...sorry my mind wandered off there, firewatch, child protection rubbish the lot.

I have also had lots of random invoices in the post which are totally laughable!!

I have said yes on purpose to these guys and kindly asked they collect the money in cash from my business as I have no bank account as they have frozen it because I am a bit of a dodgy fellow!! I am a purple belt in jiu jitsu and would give those guys much more than their cash believe me!! Unfortunatly they get on to me and never show up :(

Also maybe worth mentioning is the calls from the 'Data Protection,' always witheld. Asking if I had anymore of those scam calls I was complaining about? Although I had never spoken to anyone previously from the 'Data Protection' I think this is related to the scams to see if you are ready to receive another call. I always say "No, no never get any" to the caller as I am highly suspicious of these calls also.

Also in my opinion TAPA is related to these scams.

had a wonderful conversation with george last month and i went ahead with his advertising campaign and its been amazing for my business the past two weeks ive been inundated with calls so much so ive had to turn some clients away much to my disappointment, he gave me a small but unique reference code so that i knew which calls were coming from my advertising with them which inturn gave my new clients a 10% discount and i must encourage you to try this form of advertising, its local customers and regular custom for your business and giving back to community, thanks stevenson and judge and i can not wait for my next campaign

Called saying I had previously agreed to an ad, when I challenged them it was going to print immediatly and wanted £100 to cancel. The guy ASSURED me it was for charity, so then agreed with him to go ahead with the ad.
I since discoved via their website and on here that it is not at all for charity and simply a scam!!
Now they are demanding payment (they have not got it yet!) and have a recording me agreeing to the terms.
Convieniantly there is no recording of the sales pitch or anything suggesting it was for charity.....What to do????

    Mr Legal replied 2013-05-11 11:04:19
Just ignore them & put the phone down. Don't get into a conversation as they will talk you round to purchasing & ignore the letters as they will go away.

  7. Small Hotelier reported Stevenson & Judge with the number +441616432295 as Aggressive advertising

Shaun Fisher rang saying we had placed an advert that had been on hold, quoted a password that I had given earlier in the year. The reason he said it it was on hold was because when he previously spoke to me I had said I was in dispute with another company, I agreed to pay him but on checking this website i found they were Linked to Ocean Marketing who I had refused to pay. So all beware, they are very good at what they do

  8. kate reported unknown with the number 01616432295 as Harassment calls

I had a spate of 6 or 7 calls from these people who claimed I had agreed to take a out a 1/4 page ad with them for our B&B. I disputed this and the caller became quite agressive and rude and said he could only agree to a reduced rate as a good will geture. I told him I had never agreed and had not seen any artwork or invoice and he said they never did paper invoices, or sent out art work and that I had to pay immediately because of all the work they had done on my behalf. He started to raise his voice and I told him I would report his call to the police and was terminating the call. I have not heard back. This is a scam and it was a very upsetting experience.

  9. Gary tiffs reported Tiffer with the number 01616432295 as trustworthy number

I will be honest I have advertised with this company on numerous occausions and have never had a bad experience I have always received books and the time I needed to pay. It's only recently I was reading these comments and decided to call it a day with this sort of stuff. I do honestly think that people who own there own company should have control over there advertising, it's only a phone call that you are able to say no if you want. You can't agree to an advert even VERBALLY and expect not to pay ect... At the end of the day BT, O2 other companies do verbal agreement it takes two people to create a verbal agreement not just one. I'm in no way agreeing with some of the stuff iv been reading on here, I am able to keep controls over people calling I honestly don't think a fully grown adult in the position use are in, in these companies can get bullied on a phone call.

  10. Edible-creations reported unknown with the number +441616432295 as Aggressive advertising

I have been contacted by these saying i agreed to advertise in February. I had never heard of them and told them so. He said i had to pay for the advert but would give me discount. I have just received my artwork today and they have put a photo of a cake on there that is not even one of my creations so total plagerism. I will be calling them Monday to notify them i will not be paying and also contacting trading standards and the police.

  11. Lisa reported unknown with the number 01616432295 as trustworthy number

I was contacted by Stevenson and Judge about 2 months ago I was offered a half page mention for the price of £349 I was sent a proof copy artwork with which I was more than happy. I made 1 small change and added an additional email address. This was returned to me the following day so I made payment via BACS. Around 3 weeks later I received my Road safety journal included was my advert amongst a directory of other adverts by supporters in my region. The book was exactly as explained and my advert looked very well. I can see that some people have had bad experiences but I, myself can't complain I received what I paid for and my dealings with the staff were very pleasant and everybody I spoke to was polite and courteous. I think some of these comments may have been made out of spite with people jumping on the bandwaggon if this is the case then you should be ashamed of yourselves tarnishing a companies name. I will be doing repeat business with Stevenson and Judge in the future and cant think of a single thing they did wrong. Dont believe everything you hear, let me just reitterate that these comments are only opinions and not fact. I have dealt with other companies such as ocean marketing and a few others all of which have ripped me off. BEWARE

    Not Ripping Me !!! replied 2012-11-08 17:17:01
Ocean Marketing are all linked !!! They send the magazine out in three weeks, how convenient !!! They say all your local schools, dentists, doctors & so on get copies off these, well how many copies have you seen in these places ? None !!! & why do they have adverts from other parts of the countries ? Because it's a Con !!! All your hard earned money filled these con merchant pockets !!! Easy Money to them
    Lisa replied 2012-12-10 14:01:28
How's it relevant that they send the books out in 3 weeks? isn't that a good thing? I thought the issue most people had with these companies was that they didn't receive what they paid for? It's impossible for you to say whether companies are linked or not without actually finding proof to back up your claims. Booklets like this could have been printed a year prior to the reps contacting you, so the speed in which they send them out doesn't really make any odds does it? It's the inserts inside the booklets that hold up the campaign. I know this because I've asked a few different publishing companies who print these kind of publications, the process is split into two parts, the book then the insert. It's slanderous to make comments like that without knowing for sure what you're talking about...
    Not Ripping Me !!! replied 2012-12-11 21:56:36
So...every time someone takes out a advert with them they get the book within 3 weeks, fine but does that mean then every time someone takes a advert with them that everyone gets a new book because if not who is going to see your advert. Only you. These advertisements only meant to come out, lets say quarterly. You think your getting value for money !!! Go & check your dentists, schools doctors & so on to see if they have copies of these books because these are the places that are meant to receive them. I have & none of them have them. I have read the book & believe me my 5 year old could do better. It's so basic & copied of the net !!! Only trying to save you some money
  12. Adrian reported Stevenson and Judge (unknown) with the number 01616432295 as trustworthy number

I was called by Stevenson and Judge in February and they tried to tell me I'd taken a 3 term ad campaign for a Police crime prevention initiative (who I'd taken with Platinum Press and was very happy with). When I challenged them they became a little shirty and then advised it was obviously a mix up and I'd be taken off their database. I advised I did not want any advert runas I was not actively advertising due to my wife and I expecting our first babay. I got a call today from them demanding £299 for a 1/4 page ad campaign (1 of 3) which I'd apparantly given verbal agreement to back in February! I refused to pay and advised I'd not seen any artwork and had not signed anything. They put me on hold and said there would then be a cancelation fee of £99 but I could still get my advert published. I again refused to pay and kjept challenging them. Eventualy they said there must be a mix up with Platinum press who I'd mistaken them for and they'd withdraw their action if I could prove I'd advertised with platinum press in their crime prevention mag. they even sent a courier to my home! I refused to send the magazine but sent scanned pages of the front, back and my advert with "not for use" crossed through the middle of it. The courier had no idea who they were and I wasnt even given an address just a code for the driver saying TNT 0109?!? I only found out their name after the drive gave me a consignment number with their details on it (no address - just the company name). I enclosed a rather strongly worded letter with the copies of the pages. Also sent details to my solicitor although he cant do anything until I get their address (which I now have thanks to this site). Will also pass my experiences to Action Fraud and trading standards.

' The Crime Prevention Campaign' A very pushy Salesman claiming he spoke to you earlier in the year and you 'Verbally' agreed to advertise. DO NOT PAY this a a scam!!! Don't hang up on them either as they just dont go away, they keep calling back every time you hang up, they get increasinly aggresive and threatening using their bully boy tactics to try and get your money. Ask them to send all the confirmation through to you via e-mail. They can't as they have nothing to send. report them straight to Trading Standards who will pass on the infomation to Action Fraud.

Ive had both Steveson & Judge AND Ocean marketing on the phone to me. Tell them you are reporting them to Action Fraud...they soon hang up. Action Fraud are very interested but they can only go after them if they get enough evidence, so report them!! As the fraudulent adverts Im supposed to have agreed to were straight copies from the front page of my website, Ive now got a note on the website stating we are aware of getting targeted and that we never use any logos, photos or headings from our website as adverts in other publications, and that all our adverts are bespoke...the calls have suddenly stopped. Be aware of other companies also doing the same thing... Platinum Press is one

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news people but, companies like this only exist because there are plenty of idiots who fall for it. If it was impossible to steal a car would we have car thief's? If houses were impenetrable to anyone but the owner would we have burglars? Answer is simple, no. Simple solution, when you get a sales call hang up, when you get a call from a stranger demanding money, hang up, when you get an invoice you have not authorised, throw it away. The police have sod all interest, it's a civil matter, if you get a bill and do not think you owe money as far as the police are concerned it's a matter for the courts to decide not them.

    Mal replied 2014-11-06 19:05:09
Interesting that you quote 0161 653 1333 as that is the number of one Jubilee & Wilson Ltd, Hilton House, Hilton Street, Central Manchester (if you believe the address on their letters) with whom I am having the same harassment issues (since April).

Exactly the same pattern though: Call out of the blue citing conversation several months earlier (which didn't happen); Invoice; phone recording evidence; threats. Even called by their 'Legal Dept on a Saturday afternoon. No names given on correspondence or invoices, just 'departments' & no website either; just a [email protected] e-mail address!!!

Sent me a 'copy of the magazine' which had their old address on (137 Jubilee Road) & an inkjet printed centre page with adverts (I contacted most of these & either no number in use or they were having the same problems as me. Was also an ad for a Water Company (PLC) with images from website & which contravened their advertising brand descriptions, so not a clever move there either).

Interestingly I also receive invoices from a 'Revolution' (based in Bristol … letter posted in, yes, you've guessed it, Manchester) & debt collectors working on behalf of Phillips Media in Manchester.

All seemed to kick off (within a couple of days) of placing an ad with Marshall Design & Print Ltd, also in Manchester.

I no longer answer Private Caller phone calls, but beware, they do occasionally try a mobile just to catch you out!. I now know just about all the operators at ActionFraud by name :)

Anyone else come across these names?

Appears a or some person(s) operates this limited company with a start up capital of £1.00 and operates from a basement flat at 17 Poplar Street, Middleton, Lancs.
Fast talking "salesman" who appears to record telephone conversations and then pushes the unwary small business into a "verbal contract". Questions are where does he obtain contacts' numbers, what publications do they advertise in? Has anybody ever heard of The Stephenson and Judge Business to Business Crime Prevention Booklet 2012 or any other publication by this company? Is the flat, if indeed that is where they operate from a Local Authority property?
The whole set up and method of operation sounds extremely suspect as does their paperwork. which interestingly suggests that if an invoice has recently been paid you should "DISCARD" not DISREGARD the letter. There is your evidence gone if you do that!!!!
Also the Stevenson & Judge Website seems a long time under construction.
