Nothing more than an unsolicited call trying to source personal information under the guise of a non-existent PPI claim/refund. "Mark" pretended to know me, yet then asked me to "confirm some details for his records". Unsurprisingly he doesn't appear to have any details other than my phone number, leaving me free reign to waste his time for a bit with ficticious info. If this sort of thing doesn't provide you with personal amusement my advice would be to simply hang up and block the number. Meanwhile I await an update on my PPI claim for the three speed boats I recently purchased on finance with baited breath!
Mr Angry replied 2015-03-27 15:07:26Nice one, Sebs.
I also enjoy the sport of baiting these numskulls. So long as they speak to the likes of you or I, then they are not getting the ear of the gullible or plain daft. Sadly, for every several dozen kick backs they get, they must surely lure some folks into their (vastly overpriced) service. Very sad. Some of them sound quite nice, too, and I sure they would do well if they got a proper job, like selling kitchen scrappage schemes, solar panels, or anti-virus software. :-)Sweet replied 2015-04-08 18:41:41Love It I do a seance when they call asking for someone i never heard of Oh Mr Wiseman are you there mr wisemanwoo replied 2015-05-27 18:15:48Nice one! don't get angry - get even great fun... they do give up after a whilebattery replied 2015-07-03 18:58:04My favourite game is to look around the room and try to flog them random items. If I feel particularly mischevious I will attack a new accent to each item.Mikey replied 2015-10-20 19:24:14Had a call from them a couple of minutes ago, could hardly hear what the woman was saying due to loud music and laughing in background, but when I finally understood her I told here that my number was on TPS and she shouldn't have called anyway. She tried a pathetic excuse about how long the number had been on the TPS but I shut her up and told her that whatever she was trying to sell me the awful background noise was unprofessional. Number now on block list. -
Pretended they knew who I was and that they had a PPI payment for me if I would just 'confirm' my details.
Needless to say they hadn't and I didn't.
They didn't even know my name.Dave replied 2014-04-17 17:14:54I had a call from the same people also asking me to confirm my details on a "claim" I had allegedly made. At which point they then asked me if I had any mortgages/policies/loans that I had made a claim on, completely contradicting their initial question. Idiots.cavell replied 2014-12-09 19:23:30They rang me asking about ppi I had 4 years ago when I was 12 years oldjohn replied 2015-02-12 12:00:08Same for me. Just don't answer. There really needs action to be taken to stop this. -
Dont hang up....Remember these retards are cold calling you so you can say anything you like...keep them on the phone and take the piss out of them and one thing is for sure you wont get called again.
-
Another damn PPI call. When will these people pi55 off and let all the normal people in the UK go about their lives without constant interruption. Added to the 100+ other blocked PPI numbers I have. Also why is it always from a Manchester (0161) code. I think I can safely block all Manchester numbers...

Just another poor sod sitting in a cramped call-centre on minimum wage wanting to know if I'd ever had PPI. I let the young lady drone on for a bit, dangling the carrot of a sale in front of her, lulling her into a false sense of hope, before hanging up. Nothing personal, love; I hope you find a proper job one day. Mind you, this PPI call is a symptom of this illness that is modern Britain: a nation of betting shops, payday loan companies and call centres - all thanks to successive Labour and Tory governments (and the EU). Anyway, guys, listen up. I've never had PPI. But even if I had ... do you not think I would have got off my arse and reclaimed it by now? Now kindly bugger off and find a soul.
ex-cold caller replied 2016-03-12 13:07:17They usually get less than minimum wage as the bosses call them 'self-employed.' No matter what they're selling its usually a kid 16-21 on their first job or getting through uni. They know you don't want to but into the or scheme but they don't have the power to change the companies strategy (I tried, deaf ears).
Doing what you describe, while ime sure you only have the best of intentions will crush the poor kid, they've just made 200 calls for nought and now you give them hope and rip it away? It's the type of psychological torture they do to war prisoners!
Some of the ideas above are good, take the piss, tell them an outrageous story, order a million of what they're selling in the name of Eilean Dover.
Even then go and complain about the companies if you wish. But be nice to the kids on the phone, a lot of the time it's this or the dole and you wouldn't really want to pay for that either, would you?Arthur Nonymous replied 2016-08-18 16:57:55Mr Dan Damon: thanks for your comment! Had me in fits of giggles for a good few minutes, and accurately reflects the feelings of all of us who are constantly pestered by these silly prats. Thanks again! -
total scumbags rang me 3 times in one day first was PPI second call i missed and th third was at 10pm and for the accident that i had apparantley had. at which point i shouted at the top of my voice F**K OFF, they never rang back again

Asked If I had recieved my PPI claim/check. I said no. Then he said well have you seen the news about banks paying out PPI claims. I said who are you and I guess you are assuming I have a bank? He then said that doesnt matter. I interupted him and said If Ive had a bank/credit card/insurance or anything like that then I won't be claiming will I. He then said sorry and rang off.

Been getting alot of these numbers recently, most from Manchester or London.this one rang today, didn't answer it as I don't answer numbers I don't know.just wanna know why Ive had several different numbers in the last month, all dodgy c*#€s!!! I only expect EE have been selling my details!!!
Shiv replied 2015-01-12 18:21:35Yes EE selling our details...I got a new EE number 1 month ago and now I got this calls from them..Joey replied 2015-10-06 17:30:08I'm on O2 and I've been getting an increasing number of these calls the past couple of years. They're the reason I don't have a landline. I thought I would be free from this harrassment with only a mobile, but clearly not. -
I work for the NHS and my phone is kept clear for staff and patient issues. How the hell did they find my number?
Am about to reportAlanR replied 2014-11-03 17:43:03I dont believe they found your number - computer randomly generates digit sequence then rings it, some work some dont, yours obviously did! I experience same problem.

gentleman (arse) called with latest News broadcast about banks putting aside more money for PPI esp TSB and I was entitled to £2200!! Asked where he got my number ~ NYC database was the answer...more likely random dial caller. Asked if he knew who I was. This was not nessary a he already had my details!! work that one out!! let him rattle on for 5 mins with phone on loud speaker. Did this so he would not hassle anyone else. In the end he asked for somemore personel details and I replied saying that I did not live in GB and this was a works phone. His resounding reply was that I was a D1ck and wasted his time and hung up

0161 741 4000 - Got a call from this number, its the usual PPI parasites, best not answer.
BUT if you can....
What I do is when I have a spare minute I WITHHOLD my number and bombard these parasites with random calls. So If you can spare the time just keep calling these parasites back from a withheld number - see how they like it! -
Not too bothered by them - he asked the typical PPI question but genuinely seemed quite nice, so had a short convo with the guy. It's not their fault this is their job - it's a proper job, so just leave em be! Anyways, they've removed my number from their database after I asked politely :)

This company are continuously calling me both on my home number as well as on my mobile. Calling at all hours of the day, both in the week and on Saturday evenings too.
-
JUST WHISTLE DOWN THE PHONE REALLY LOUD THEY HAVE HEADSETS ON.....NO CALLBACK AFTYERWARDS
-
PPI. Blocked
-
Why are they calling and how did they get my phone number
-
I can't believe that people have the morality to sell phone numbers as that is what they do! One time I've bin hacked, stopped in time but once is enough cause they then sell ur no.
-
Iv been a cold caller for a year for a company Within education. Iv always worked in sales and smashed it. A lot of people want to do a easy job when going through uni and don't see it as a career. Personally if it's a well known product I don't have an issue with cold callers as I know how to
Deal with them being one myself. However if it's someone who has got my details and is ringing me about a accident I had and ppi that really ticks me off, major invasion on privacy and completely illegal .... The callers that choose to work for illegal companies that's their own choice and it doesn't make me feel bad when I challenge them or play a few games -
Even though I told him I had sorted out my ppi claims already, he insisted he could still get me more money. Got quite upset when I refused his info pack and asked him to remove my number. I did advise him if his company kept calling me I would invoice them for £32 per minute and send invoice to his head office. This resulted in a " yea ok if you wish" comment. Wish I could unplug the phones they yes DO NOT GIVE YOUR DETAILS TO THEM
-
They cant make unsolicited calls. Just ask for their MOJ number as you are going to report them to the Ministry of justice. after couple of times they stopped ringing.
-
Re my PPI claim. I have never had PPI.
-
Just answer say thers someone at the door and walk away from phone when they realise that your not there they soon put phone down(serve them right for disturbing my meal time)
-
01617414000 keep calling me but as soon as I answer they hang up . I cannot call back to get them to remove my number from their mailing list
-
Celebration music as i answered stating id won a prize. Didnt give it a second then hung up. Ive added the number to my block list, easy if you havea smart phone.
-
Phoned & gave me a load of BS about the banks have opened up closed ppi claims saying they still owe you money!asked him what my name is & then you guessed it he hung up,tosser..so I phoned them back up 4 times on the company's phone stating I was selling double glazing
-
PPI. They said it was called HELP YOUR CLAIM.
I asked to speak to the manager and told them that my phone was registered to not receive cold calls, and asked them where they got my number from.
They asked for my email address so they could let me know where they obtained my number from. I refused to give it, as next thing they will be sending me emails too.
They were quite persistent and LOUD and kept calling me by my first name which annoyed me too seeing as I have never met them, and don't want to meet them. -
ppi claims, answered them in greek , end of call
-
trying to sell me doulbe glazing and patio's. I have asked politely twice to be taken off their list but to no avail. Maybe next time I won't be so polite!
-
very annoyed as they have called a few times and when I have answered it has been a dead line.
But today I answered and someone spoke - she spoke VERY FAST and despite me asking several times I still dont know the name of the company!
Anyway she was going on about PPI claims, and even though I told her I have already been sorted out PPI claim she said that the bank would have withheld an amount from the refund and they could get it back. I am afraid I just hung up cos I am sick of these sorts of calls! -
Hello you are entitled to ppi.......
Claimed it already goodbye, just hang up!!!! -
Rang me at 5.15pm tonight. Spoke to the girl in Spanish so she didn't understand me. Hung up! By the way. I am a Yorkshire man!
-

Yet another 0161 number to add to the list of blocked 0161 numbers. Didn't give this call any longer that 3 seconds.. Hung up.. In the last week Ive had about 20 (twenty) 0161 calls.. Last weeks was probably the highlight of them all.. " have you had an accident in last 3 years".. Told them I had.. " care to explain".. Told him I was too embarrassed but suffice to say it was that bad I had to throw the underpants I was wearing in the bin... There was a brief period of silence then he hung up.. I didn't really make a mess if anyone's wondering.. Just annoying them.
-
Generally when there's a long pause before they answer, it's safe to say it's a call centre that I'm going to have zero interest in talking to.
Whistle loudly down the phone. They don't tend to call back again. ;) -
Just Block Them !
-
Couldn't get this guy off the phone, He insisted he could help me with PPI refund - even though I insisted (truthfully) I have never had PPI!
-
received 2 calls from them and thanks to an app I have they are blocked from my mobile so do not even hear a ring from them now.
-
They asked me about my accident in the last 3 years.I told them I could'nt get out out because as they knew from my records, after hitting the other vehicle I had swerved, glanced the tree and overturned into the ditch where I was partially submerged in freezing water.
I was starved of oxygen for a number of minutes...and as now can't get to the phone because of the titanium frames used to rebuild my body.He said his Manager would like to speak to me but I refused, saying I now suffer from stress related Tourettes Syndrome and telephone calls like these upset me because I haven't been able to see a Solicitor to claim against the other party......Oh no I fffff feel and episode coming...xzr###"""~~...
