    Automated voice message purported to be from Amazon and suggested that I'd spent over £1000 on an overseas transaction from somewhere I'd never purchased from before.

    Hung up googled the number - got here.

    Automated voice mail claiming to be from VISA security & claiming my card had been used on Amazon (£300+) & Western Union (£1100+) and to press 1 to report these transactions. Did not mention the name of my bank, whose card services team have always contacted me by SMS in the past. Hung up as I suspected a scam. Banking app confirms there are no such transactions on my card.
