Eon demanding to change to smart meter. Had a letter saying i must change to smart meter. I am now in process of switching energy supplier and they are still calling. Whilst looking at other companies, some can’t take you as customer if you have a smart meter installed! Hopefully they will stop once energy transferred. Be careful if you choose to do this to get them off your back, some of the other big energy suppliers are insisting on installing a smart meter when they take over. Read all terms and conditions. I’ve gone with a a small green energy company and will save a lot of money.

Under no circumstances should people be harassed to have smart meters installed.
Secondly, once installed, you have to pay for the meter readings as it gets transferred back to them... Why should you as the consumer pay for that while they'll be making all the meter readers redundant at the same time?
Thirdly, the long term plan for the smart meters is disturbing to even think about. Not only they will know exactly when you are putting the kettle on, or may be having a shower, they will then tailor your bill tariff according to your usage when you are at home!
The sky will be the limit as to the ways they can find to milk us all, and to spy on all of us once these cynical devices are installed.
I refuse to have them installed and EoN has been pestering me too, with mail and now phone calls... This must stop NOW! -

This is yet again harassment over a smart meter. We keep telling them that we don't want one but they keep ringing back.
olias replied 1/22/19, 2:07 PMthe reason energy companies keep harassing people is they are under pressure from the government to get them installed and face a financial penalty for failure. I think you should be able to register that you do not wish to have theses meters then this information could be collected by these firms to show the government that they have tried and failed to convince customers -

Eon. Smart reader installation. Although we cant even get one installed at our place because of an external meter box.
Externalmeter replied 10/4/19, 11:06 AMSame. They are bugging me to get the smart meter installed but then find out online that I can’t even get one due to my meter being in the ground outside. -

If you are over 60 they treat you as an idiot, lie after lie. I agree with all the complaints made so far. I do not want a profile built on my hourly energy readings, later sold on to heavens knows who for a price?

I have told eon ages ago that I don’t want the meter unless I have a written statement that they will guarantee to recompense me if costs are incurred if I change to another supplier. They said that they could not give me assurance. They are a nuisance and should have a hefty fine.d7v4c

If this is eon re a smart meter I’ll be incandescent with rage! It took me 20 emails to convince them to stop emailing me about one. We wanted one, but as there was no way we could receive the signal, the installer couldn’t complete the job. I begged them to update their customer records to no avail.

Hi, this is not a scam call. Old style credit meters are being phased out and are being replaced with new smart meters instead (these read themselves, instead of you having to provide a reading to your supplier).
I work for an energy supplier and ours is doing the same thing.
I did get a letter from Eon last week offering to change my meter free of charge but I haven't yet got back to them, so they have decided to call me instead.
Eon are offering to change your meter free of charge to a more modern one. You mights as well do it now, otherwise they may charge you for it in the future.andrew replied 10/25/17, 10:56 AMif you take one of eon's smart meters now and decide to change to a different supplier then you will have to change the meter again. Do not agree to it until the new generation of smart meters is available which are good for many years with all suppliers. Consumers are paying for these meters and installing them should be stopped until the next generation are available. This is a huge wate of our money and an absolute scandal. -
