Another Router doesn't update calls. Obvious attempt to access PC. Apparently all I needed to do is log in to their secure router and download an update.
Managed to keep him talking for 9 minutes before the toad hung up. I made the mistake of sounding like I knew what I needed to do. Better to have pretended to have had problems and he'd have kept trying. Still at least that is 9 minutes of his working day wasted.
BT you have the technology to stop these calls, you should be doing so. Shame on you BT. -

"David Martin" apparently calling from BT to resolve my internet issues. Tried to get me to download "Anydesk" on my phone and continually asked why I couldn't download the app now. Gave me this number as "customer services". DANGEROUS!

Purported to be BT Openreach saying my internet was about to be cut off. Very aggressive people shouting and saying I was being unhelpful and obstructive when I asked for their contact details to confirm with my actual internet provider

DO NOT GIVE THIS PERSON ANY INFO ON THIS CALL!! A man with a strong accent calls claiming to be from BT Openreach saying that even though I may be a customer of another provider, BT controls all UK internet connections. Claims that I have suspicious or infected router. Asks you to download Quick Support from Play Store and give him the access code it produces so that it he can check for infected IP addresses. DO NOT DO THIS. I said I was not prepared to do this and asked for a number that I could use to verify his info. He gave me 01793596931 which will connect you with a colleague who is in on the scam.

Asian male called Jack claimed to be from Openreach stating my internet was slow. After discussing stated I wanted to verify him. Gave me an ID number, stated he was in London, the number he gave was Swindon. My caller display showed 01142354853 which is Sheffield. Completly false.

This is the 2nd time this person has called on a Saturday morning, saying he is BT Openreach and his name is Jack Williams, Technical and then Customer Services. He asked me what type of telephone, ipad, iphones I owned and I told him an old laptop and a Doro without internet!!!! He asked if the light on the Router was lit as he had heard my internet was so slow.He asked me to press the Windows key and an “r” and I then told him I had to rush out. I asked for his name and number and he game me this no.

Rang me on 01793 596931.
They said they were from open reach and I had router/internet problems. Wanted me to log into my computer and download stuff!!! As if!! Second call in one day from two different numbers told them they were scammers and to go away. He gave me this number to ring for by to prove they were genuine. They rang on 07209 141034.Rachel replied 7/6/21, 11:17 AMSame this morning just before 9am. Call from 01389 609 545 in Dumbarton. Claimed to be from BT. I said I wasn't comfortable with the info they were asking for and asked them to email me on the contact details that they would hold for me if genuine. He said I'll give you the BT number to call and gave me 0044 1793 596 931. -

Scam Call. Tried to get me to input info on my device. Indian man rang and passed me to 'senior supervisor female,Indian lady whos name was Nancy Davis. They said I could verify they were genuine by them giving my my CLS number. When I said already have it she hung up.
They tried to get me to log in for a good 5 minutes. -

Foreign caller showing 07780 394984 but claiming to be available on 1793596931 pretending to be a BT engineer to "help" with the junk files in the router. Well trained scammer probably, claiming BT is the "mother" provider for internet whichever provider you're actually using.

Some call med (no name) and told me that they are from BT Technical Support. They went on rambling about my IP being registered with fraudsters etc. I told them that I do use the internet but I don't have an IP :) They went on for 1-2 mins and then they hung up.

Called claiming to be from BT Openreach and they were cutting off my internet, I asked for number which they provided for me to call back, I thought about it and informed them I will look up a number for myself for BT and the caller became abusive and hung up. Total Scam.

Lady just called saying she was from BT and that my broadband has been hacked and if I can't download the software to fix it then my internet will be switched off. She told me to download an app which I did but upon downloading it I realised it was an app to remotely control my phone from another device. When I asked why she needed to control my old broken phone when apparently the internet line is the problem she passed me to a man who became aggressive and passed me back. I asked for her number so I could call back after I had checked that she wasn't the scammer and she tried her hardest to get me to stay on the line and open the app allowing her to control my phone! Ignore this number, total scam

Indian women told me I had problems on my internet she said she was from BT so passed me over to Indian guy called Ryan Wilson BT number 1997. He want to correct the problem I told him when I check the call out he can or I will call him Back.

Indian gentleman called and insisted my internet was about to be cut-off, worryingly had access to my correct account number. Gave the 01793596931 for me to call back, actual call came from 001277 221987, obvious scam but have contacted BT to ask how they got hold of my account details.

Similar to other comments added here, but the 'Indian' man called himself Jonathan Watson. He gave me the number 441793596931 to call back. Worryingly this outfit did have my full name.

Easy to spot fraud. Man with Indian accent, claiming to be calling from BT in London, and clearly reading from a script, told me there had been lots of suspicious activity on my Internet connection. I pressed him for a genuine BT number I could call back on, and he gave me 00441793596931, a Swindon area code. Lots of background chatter, poor quality line. Told him I couldn't hear him properly and kept him talking to waste his time until he finally gave up and hung up.
I decided to have some fun and told him I was a BT Director (I'm not) and would investigate. You have never see anyone hang up as fast!
Nasty scammers. I wonder what their true motive is. Also, shame on BT for doing nothing to deal with these calls.
