Having recently written to VM to cancel my contract, I've had a few calls from this number. I was finally able to answer the call this afternoon.
It's a legitimate VM customer service number. The lady on the phone took me through my account security to confirm I was the account holder and then discussed my account and my reasons for leaving.
Nothing scam related, though I appreciate that scammers do often spoof legitimate businesses' telephone numbers.
In my case, all above board - genuine call from VM regarding my contract. -

Seems to be retention team trying to offer better deals when a cancellation has been put in place. The fact that you have to go through all this effort in the first place to cancel is shocking, especially when they only offer you a decent deal when leaving.

It is Virgin media calling for contract extensions. Seems like a real call but I am not quite sure.

They finally acknowledge verbally that I had given them notice, that was a few days ago, and they asked me to advise them of the change over date, I did that so now they think the 30 days notice starts from now. Telecom terrorists.
