   BT will call you using this number to tell you that an SMS (text message) has been sent to your landline. Most, perhaps all, of the time this will happen because you requested the SMS to be sent to your landline number. So I don't understand why a lot of commentators seem to be upset about it. It's just one of BT's services, so get over it folks.l

   This number is without a doubt dangerous and the person who goes by the name of Nigel Anderson who resides in Broghton who posts in green on this and other sites (Anon13) isn't helping with ego. The fact that this BT owned number can be so easily spoofed makes it a virtual paradise for scammed.

   The 3 individuals posting in response to the PENDRAGON post may not realise it but that person would appear to be an employee of Tellows. Check out the the job title included before the name. The format is completely different to the the other posts on this feed AND on this site. Also read the 'EXPERT ANALYSIS' in the banner heading.
   
   Avoiding scammers spoofing this number so only genuine messages are heard is easy and how to do so has been posted many times on this and on other sites and not only by me. Scammers are far more likely to spoof bank numbers - a highly profitable scam. I have posted how to avoid being scammed by callers pretending to be from 'your bank' many times as well. I have also posted many times how to report scam calls, texts etc onto the system set up by the government working with the police Action Fraud, the National Cyber Security Centre, OfCom and most of our phone providers.
   
   Incidentally, I have had 2 audio text messages sent to my housephone over the past couple of weeks via this number. I can't prove it of course. But I have been getting messages in this way for a very long time. I know others who also get audio texts via this service and other text to voice audio text services.
   
   So as PENDRAGON says - GET OVER IT!

The oracle and encyclopidia  about this number left a post a few months ago saying he had a scam message through this number and that he had reported it to action fraud, when it was pointed out to him that he said scams dont come through this number, he left another post saying it wasnt a scam, it was a parcel delivery he was expecting, so this anon 13 can not tell the difference between genuine and scam messages, but yet he leaves essay after essay claiming he knows all about this number, so basically if he is to believed he as reported a so called genuine delivery to action fraud. Seriously you could not come across someone more deluded in telling the truth.

   This number is NOT a spam number. It is the BT owned and operated free to answer fully automated text to speech to landline translation and relay service number. It calls housephones when a text is sent to it. The text could be from someone you know texting your housephone instead of your mobile by mistake or it's an automated message from a business or organisation that you know and has your housephone number as the contact.

   This anon 13 really is a piece of work, its just so easy to prove this low life is a compulsive liar, in his essay below he claims he got involved with this number when he noticed the red poster insulting all green posts, for staters it was me who left a post on here 5 years ago about a bank scam I got through this number, when I checked the next day to see if anyone else had the same sort of scam, this anon 13 had left a post calling me a liar and other words, (basically the same as he is doing now), when I looked back over other posts there was a clear pattern, anyone who left a negative post got insulted by this anon 13 and that is the truth, but as always this low life twists the truth. this anon 13 claims he started posting about this number 5 years ago, so may be this compulsive liar can explain why his name is on posts 10 years ago on some sites, and that he as been bombarding every site to do with this number for at least 8 years, even by his own admission he claims he as been on these sites for 10 years, don't take my word for it, check it out for your self's, its all there in black and white to prove anon 13 is a compulsive liar.

   Some time back I did think I had a scam text message sent to my landline phone via this number. First time that had happened! I reported the ORIGINATING number onto the reporting system NOT this automated relay service number. It turned out that an item I ordered from Amazon was not delivered via the usual Amazon system. It came via another source that had my landline number as the contact and it was them that sent the delivery time note. I did report that mistake at the time but it helps to read.

    If the nutty red poster is serious about stopping fraudsters, why not do something about it?
    
    There is another phone number checking site that the red poster knows very well that lists all the latest scam call reports. Why not respond to these posts as I do several times a day and tell people how to report scam calls. The government working with the police and OfCom set the system up although not well publicised.
    
    Text call details to 7726 or use your phone's spam report facility. Check for any acknowledgement as you may need to confirm the report.
    Forward texts to 7726 and also email a screenshot or copy&paste to '[email protected]'
    Forward emails to '[email protected]' and also report via the email phishing report system- 3 dots top right corner of the email.
    
    For more info check the police.uk Action Fraud phishing reporting web page. Also check the National Cyber Security Centre website PHISHING report section: 'https:// www.ncsc.gov.uk/ collection/ phishing-scams'.

    The post below explains what this number is and how it works - and how to avoid scammers misusing this system. See also the banner post above. I've been getting text messages sent to my housephone in audio format for many years with no problem. Most have been from people I know texting my my housephone instead of my mobile by mistake or from a business or organisation that I know that has my housephone as the contact and sent an automated text message.
    
    The person posting that this is a scam number and everyone who says otherwise is a scammer obviously can't understand English. This person clearly does not have access to a landline phone so could never have had a text message sent to it translated by the system into audio. These fake danger posts about a LEGIT messaging service are dangerous. And if anyone thinks this number is dangerous, look up all the phone numbers listed on your bank account on the phone number checking sites! That is really scary but avoiding scammers spoofing bank numbers is also easy (you end the call, check to ensure your phone line has cleared, you call your bank to check if it is them calling by phoning the number on your debit or credit card).
    
    This Digital Voice system connected to the new Optic Fibre broadband system that the fake poster is on about will eventually reach everyone in the UK. Only those that need to keep the copper wire based system will not be migrated to the new digital voice system. Presumably that will only carry on until technology catches up. The problem with pendant alarms and other alarm systems connecting to the Optic Fibre system was not initially recognised and delayed the rollout of the new system until it was sorted.
    
    I'm over 70 and switched with no problem. What's age got to do with it? My landline phone works exactly the same way as it always worked except the built in answerphone no longer works. I now have to check for messages every time the phone flags a missed call and that is annoying. Also, the phone doesn't work if the router is switched off and that is VERY annoying. But apart from that - no problems. All I had to do for the switch was to set up the new router, link my devices to it and unplug my landline from the wall socket and plug it into the router. Simples!
    
    Those in the UK where there are patchy mobile signals want the new Digital Voice/Optic Fibre system more than anyone and will be getting or now have it. These people probably get more audio text messages sent to their landline than anybody.

    For anyone checking why this number keeps on calling their housephone, it's the fully automated free to answer BT owned and operated text to speech to housephone translation and relay service. Most phone providers and many businesses use this service to ensure text messages sent to non-text enabled housephones are delivered. The text could be from someone you know texting your housephone instead of your mobile by mistake or it's an automated message from a business that you know that has your housephone number as the contact. This service has been operating for decades – since 02 was part of BT hence the number.
    
    When you pick up the phone, BT will announce itself and will then tell you the originating number. If the message is from BT the bot voice will say so. You will then be offered options to press buttons on your phone. Unless you are 101% certain that the call is legit, ignore the options. The message will be read out when the bot runs out of options. Be aware that attachments, emojis, Gifs etc will cause the message to fail and the computer still has problems reading out long complex numbers. When the message is read out you will then be given further options - 'save', 'repeat', 'delete'. I usually delete at which time you will be told how to change the curfew time that this number can call and also block all future calls from this legit messaging service. In the event of a scam message (unlikely but possible) the scam number to report by text to 7726 and on this site will be the originating number.
    
    As the copper cable system for our phone and broadband network is being replaced with optic fibre across the UK, all housephones will switch to the Digital Voice system. That’s 40% of all households in the UK. I've had letters, emails and at least 5 audio text messages to my housephone from BT in the past few weeks telling me what to do as my region switched. That's more than double the audio messages so far this year than I had the whole of last year!
    
    Be aware this service will not work on answerphones, it does keep calling until the message is answered or it times out after 24 hours and the message is deleted. It will not call during the curfew period - 11pm to 8am. Emojis Gifs, attachments etc could cause the message to fail.You can call this number back to retrieve your message within the 24 hour period but there will be a Business Rate charge of 5p per hour plus your network connection charge.
    
    All information posted above is based on my personal experience of getting text messages sent to my non-text enabled landline phone over many years.

And if still not sure, look up this number on other phone number checking sites but, like this feed, check back the latest dozen or so posts as well as the banner post.
    
    Fake Jake is posting under various guises but keeps on getting it wrong about this audio text to landline service. This silly person is dangerous and can cause some people to miss their message.
    
    But don't take my word for it. Just read back and make up your own mind. You will find out exactly what this number is, how it works, why it calls even if you are not with BT, how to avoid scammers misusing this service, how to report suspect scams onto the official reporting system and even find a comment explaining how to avoid scammers spoofing genuine bank phone numbers. Just look up the phone numbers listed on your bank account details on the phone number checking sites to prove how important that is! Fake Jake does not want you to know any of this! Why?

    I AM AN INVESTIGATOR FOR THIS SITE, and as anon 13 says in his own words should be believed.
    
    After further investigation i can not find any evidence to back up or verify this anon 13 claims, i have notice a clear patter in anon 13 posts, he tries his best to discredit all negative post but never produces one bit of evidence to prove this. For 20 years unknownphone and who called me have rated this number as dangerous, for 20 years there have been over a 1000 reports of harassment and attempted scams, but yet this anon 13 who can not even verify his own posts claims the web sites have all got it wrong and all negative posts are left by someone as genuine as a £9 note, SERIOUSLY, its clear for anyone with a brain cell that anon13 is trying to take us all for fools, none of what he says in his false essays can be found on any other web site which just proves its all what he as made up in that head of his. There is only this anon13 going from web site to web site leaving completely false essays to convince everyone this number is safe when for 20 years the other websites and 1000's reports of scams totally contradict every thing anon 13 says. This anon13 is a compulsive liar and this as been proven time and time again, he contradicts every thing he says when he is proven a liar, i think that says it all about this sad person. if you check out the other 2 other web sites i mentioned, you will find they have been closed because of this anon13 false and misleading essays just out to confuse and scam the elderly. time to make your minds up, do you believe the false essays of one man crusade, or do you believe 20 years of proven genuine facts, and if anyone is still in any doubt just to prove this anon 13 contradict's himself, he claims all scam reports posted can not come through this number, if this is true why does he keep leaving essays claiming how to avoid scams every day.

    There is an individual posting under various names below (they are as genuine as a £9 note) with severe problems. This person has no idea how this BT audio text service works and seems oblivious to the dangers of spoofed legit numbers and the importance of SAFELY picking up legit calls. Legit phone numbers must never be ignored on the off-chance scammers may spoof them. We must all know how to avoid scammers so we only engage with legit calls. Posted below is information explaining both how to avoid scammers spoofing this number (although that is unlikely) and how to avoid scammers spoofing genuine bank phone numbers (exceedingly dangerous and highly likely)

    Anyone needing to check this number that keeps calling their landline phone should read the banner post above. That's right! Someone has sent a text message to your non-text enabled landline phone. The system has attempted to translate it into audio and relay it it on.
    
    What the banner post does not make clear is most phone providers use this BT system so non-BT customers can get calls from this number. Also the system will keep on calling as it attempts to deliver the message until it times out and the message is deleted after 24 hours. The system will not call between 11pm and 8am although you can reset the curfew time.
    
    You will always be told the originating number when you pick up the phone before being given options to press buttons on your phone. If you are not familiar with this system and are not sure, ignore the options to press buttons on your phone. That's how to avoid the danger of scammers spoofing this number although scammers are far more likely to spoof your bank phone number. Just keep listening and the message will be read out when the bot voice runs out of options. Be aware that attachments, Gifs, Emojis, links will cause the message to fail.
    
    In the unlikely event of a scam message getting through, the scam number to report by text to 7726 and onto the phone number checking sites is the originating number not this fully automated relay service number. If you lost money to a scam or have information about a scammer, report it directly to Action Fraud by calling 03001232040.
    
    Incidentally to avoid scammers spoofing your bank phone number, if you get any unexpected contact from your bank, you terminate the contact, check to ensure your phone connection has cleared and call your bank using the number on your bank card or account details. Banks are happy for you to do that. Scammers will want no one to do that

    Called this morning. It was an audio text message sent to my landline. I gave my landline number as the contact phone number when making an hotel reservation. I didn't press 1 when requested as wasn't sure what it was but let the message play out. The robo voice read out the message at the end. I had an email confirmation as well.

    The 0800 number that Raven has posted about (top rated post) should have an option to change the default time that this number can call as well as blocking this number. If it's not working complain to BT. This number should not call at silly o'clock in the middle of the night. BT will need to be told that their text to speech to landline translation and relay service number is not working as it should

    This near unless bt text to speech service is being utilised by scammers who either come through as a message asking you to press 1 where you often get charged in the hundreds or they come through as a call pretending to be from bt asking you to "confirm" your bank details If you dial 0800 587 5252 and press option 1 and option 5 it should opt you out providing you don't withhold your number. I suggest you do this if you don't use the service as thousands of pentioners have been scammed out of their life savings. Anon 13 should be familiar with that fact.

    I am certainly familiar with the fact that scammers can spoof this genuine BT owned and operated text to speech to landline translation and relay service number. That's why I post how to avoid scammers spoofing this usually safe number so only genuine messages get listened to. (You don't press buttons on your phone when requested and you will not speak to anyone - you just listen and do nothing except listen).
    
    I am not familiar with the comment that this number has been used to scam thousands of pensioners out of their life savings. That hasn't happened. This one person posting on this feed using many weird name tags has a very twisted imagination

    This number was calling all night. It's the number that BT use to translate text to speech messages. I do not have a landline managed by BT. As far as I'm concerned, by what I've read online, scammers have intercepted the BT number. One person who answered the call had £80 added to her BT phone bill!!! If you're with BT and you dial the number directly, BT will let you know if you have any messages.

    Received a message through this service about a parcel force delivery asking me to press 1. I made no such order. I subsequently called Parcelforce amd they informed me that this is a common scam to get people to "confirm" theor details to a fraudster.

    Parcel Force do text ahead of deliveries to give an ETA of when the parcel is expected to arrive at its destination. If the contact number is a landline, the text will arrive in audio format via this BT owned text to speech to landline translation and relay service number.
    Delivery scam texts will always have a link to click on. On a landline?
    Also, the safety advice posted about this free to answer service tells you NOT to press 1 just because a computer voice asks you to do. Hang on and say and do nothing and the message will be read out.
    If you get a scam text via this fully automated service, the scam number to report will be the originating number not this relay number. The system will always tell you the originating number of the text when you pick up.
    But also check out the other posts with the name tag 'Bannana Baroness' (and other silly name tags) on this feed and on other phone number checking sites. This person really has a thing about this genuine and usually safe messaging service and seems to hate it when people get messages and post about it

    This number is, by the way, a usually safe messaging service operated by BT and used by most phone operators to ensure text messages sent to non text enabled landline phones get relayed on in audio format. There is plenty of other info on this feed.

    This number is not safe and the green poster knows it. Its very dangerous, scammers are not only spoofing the messaging service to get you to press 1 for a cost trap of being forwarded to a scammer. They are actually able to come through this number as a call and pretent to be from BT and attempt to get details. If you block this service you wont miss any messages because nobody ever has any ! The fact that this green posting grifter sits day and night, 7 days a week 365 days a year trying to get people to think that this number is safe through bare face lies says it all !

    Information about this BT owned text to speech to landline translation and relay service number posted on this feed will tel you not to press numbers just because a disembodied computer voice tells you. The text message will be read out when the computer gets to the end of the list of options. You can't be scammed just by picking up the annoying ringing phone provided you do absolutely nothing except listen.
    
    Most phone providers use this BT service to ensure text messages sent to landlines get delivered. There are several techy companies offering this text audio translation service to clients and the phone operators will not use this BT service if it was inherently unsafe.
    
    This is a fully automated service. The top rated post on this feed will tell you how to block this number if that's what you want but think very carefully before blocking genuine business numbers unless there is no chance that you will get genuine calls from that number.
    
    Blocking numbers will not reduce the scam calls and texts we all get. Scammers will just keep using any one of millions of computer generated fake or spoofed numbers.     The posts that I put on tells you how to avoid scammers misusing this BT owned and operated text to speech to landline translation and relay service number (you just pick up the ringing phone and do absolutely nothing except listen). It is a free to answer service. Only very daft people will press numbers on your phone when a disembodied computer voice tells you. Hang on and the message gets read out. You can't be scammed by just listening. Don't do anything else. Most phone providers use this BT system and have been doing so for many years.
    I noticed a couple of recent posts on this feed confirming genuine messages. Read back a couple of pages and the posts confirming a genuine message far outnumber the posts confirming a scam call from this number

    Text message came to my landline in audio. It was BT telling me my bill was ready. Strange! It was ready and I had an email saying it was. I didn't press numbers on my phone as I wasn't sure. I just let it play out. The message was read out after the computer voice stopped telling me to press buttons.

    This text to speech to landline translation and relay service number is fully automated. It translates text messages sent to landlines into audio. The system cannot ask for any information. Plenty of info about this number on this feed. But there are too many very obvious fake scam reports. The person posting this stuff has problems and does not want anyone to get their message. Anyone who knows how this BT system works can pick them out. Check the top rated post from Raven and read all the responses. Don't get scammed but don't miss your message either.

    The person posting as 'Fanjita Patel' has problems. This person has been spamming up this and other phone number checking sites, often using silly names, for far too long. As for the name 'Fanjita' - put the word into your search engine. It is a very unpleasant word.

    This Anon 13 person has been on many sights harassing people who write negatively about this service. Ask yourself why ? Since he doesn't work for BT and has been harassing people for 9 years trying to convince people this number is safe. BT even told me this number is not to be trusted as it is often used by scammers. Rest assured Anon 13 is a scammer !

    How can any of the posts from Anon 13 be from a scammer? BT, incidentally, do not say this number is unsafe. It has been relaying text messages that get sent to to landlines in audio format since 02 was part of BT. Most phone providers use this service. They wouldn't use it if it was unsafe. Check the other posts on this feed including ALL the responses to the Raven post. Also google this number and check it out.

    I notice that tellows has a tenancy to delete mu posts. My last post had nothing but factual information about this number, I suggest the moderators do their homework around this service. BT own the number and told me it was being used by scammers so if this post is deleted like the last one , I will assume that tellows is complicit in scamming people ! Sort it out.

    Excuse me Anon 13, I actually spoke to BT personally and not just a worker drone, the director of communications, who coincidentally is a cousin of mine and yes it is a scam so reign you neck in. They own the number and.said it's being used by fraudsters, I'll say it again incase your hard of sight. BT OWN THE NUMBER AND SAID ITS UNSAFE !!!!

    There are no BT directors with the title 'Director of Communications'. BT do not say anywhere that their number is unsafe. Most phone providers use this BT service to ensure text messages are relayed to the intended destination. They wouldn't use it if this service is inherently unsafe. The safety information posted on this feed will tell you how to avoid scammers misusing this service.
    
    Guardian, Fangita (who also calls itself Fanjita on this feed) Patel, Gislaines Little Black Book, Miss Muchacha Keyboard Warrior, MissMoonbump and other silly name tags are the same individual with a problem. This person can cause people to miss their message or not know how to SAFELY pick up their message.

    This number is being spoofed by scammers. Hmrc scam asking me to press 1, I contacted bt and they said it was a scam and the number has been spoofed. What is even more disturbing is the disgusting scammers such as the one below who goes by anon 13 who proport that this number is safe to confuse the elderly so he can SCAM THEM ! BLOCK THIS NUMBER NOW !!!!

    This fake post and weird name tag has appeared on many phone number checking sites. That name tag should be banned by phone number checking sites.
    
    Google the word 'fanjita' and you will understand what I mean. It is certainly not a Gujarati forename or any forename.

    The person using the name 'Fanjita Patel' has problems and has been spamming up all phone number checking sites with fake scam reports about this number for years. Always using different aliases.

    Patel is a Gujarati surname. The Gujarati are Hindu.
    Fanjita is a new urban swear word and refers to part of the femail anatomy.
    Do not confuse 'fanjita' with 'fajita', a Tex Mex food.

    This was not automated text it was an Indian sounding women saying she was from BT and that she was calling because there was a problem with our internet speed. I said the internet was fine - she hung up.
    If it was BT - rude! but like some have said, if the number was cloned, could be trouble.

    This number is a genuine automated messaging service. It calls landlines with an audio translation of a text message someone sent to it. You will never speak to a real person when you answer the call. It will only call landlines. It is not a scam number per se. Most calls will be genuine text messages that someone sent to a landline. Spoofed genuine business numbers are a serious and dangerous problem that this government must tackle - one of its many roundtoits.

    This Action Fraud phone number does not apply to Scotland and will just connect you to a call centre where fraud crimes where money has been stolen are recorded. The call centre staff will not have a clue about this number.

    simple text to landline service , not rocket science unlike some on here who have clear issue's and please FOLKS don't bother commenting on the unknown phone site about this number this is monitored by JACK who amazingly works there and you cannot put a positive or sensible quote on there as JACK who works there will not publish actual facts ! off to the bar with JACK's make believe mates , coward.
