teewestwood reported BT text service with the number 08456021111 as Trustworthy number
this number was phoning me 5 times in a couple of hours until I found out it was somebody who had sent a text message to my landline! this call is from BT's text to speech service!
EmJayPee replied 3/7/14 10:48 AMI had this too, said the text message was unreadable.Clancy replied 7/16/16 8:54 AMSo glad to find out it was just my husband sending a text to our landline by mistake! Thanks! -
James reported BT with the number +448456021111 as Trustworthy number
Text message came through to my landline. This number called, computer voice said it was BT, told I had a text message and told me the number that sent it. Hung up at that point but checking my contacts list as this number called again. Same message but picked out the number as someone I know. Pressed 1 this time. Friend sent message to my landline by mistake. The computer read it out. Not with BT so a bit confused. although I know Openreach look after the phone lines into my house. I think this must rate as trustworthy as introduction clear and can be checked.

Sedna reported BT with the number +448456021111 as Trustworthy number
BT text to landline audio translation service. Very annoying as keeps ringing until you answer and clicks off when answer phone clicks in. Answered after ignoring several calls. Suspicious as voice told me to press 1 to hear message as this usually means connecting to a scam premium rate number but recognised the originating mobile number. Relative sent text to my landline by mistake. Hope scammers don't spoof this number!!
sparky replied 6/25/20 11:16 AMi see you got the who called site shut down again with your cronies then hey sedna - this is not a trustworthy number and you know it !oort cloud replied 10/9/20 11:23 AMutter tosh sedna oops im taking to myself again !! -

This is a legitimate BT service, it's automated to read aloud text messages sent to your land-line number. You can control this by calling freephone 0800 587 5252 (yes, it's free). For those who say "I'm not on BT" you're missing the point, you don't have to be a BT customer, it's a free service. Just call freephone 0800 587 5252 (yes, for free! ) then listen to the options. Simples! -

Why can't BT block this number
This is not 0845602111Gatsby replied 5/12/22 3:02 PMThis IS a BT number. Relays audio translations of text messages sent to a non-text enabled landlines and used by most phone operator. Usually safe to pick up and listen. DO NOT press any buttons on your phone when this number calls as instructed by the computer - just keep listening. This service is free to answer. Try sending a test text to your landline 2c what happens. This is an opt out service. One option you will be given when you pick up is to opt out of future calls. Takes about 30 mins to kick in. -
Kind Katie reported number +448456021111 as BT
This is a genuine BT number, which has been spoofed.
If it is a scam, you will be asked to press 1 to listen to the message.
If it is BT, you will be able to hear the message by continuing to hold.Gatsby replied 9/14/21 3:24 PMThis genuine BT number, used by most phone operators and many businesses and services, is a text to landline audio translation and relay system. It calls landlines when someone sends a text to it. When you answer, the computer will ALWAYS tell you the originating number before offering you various options including 'press 1' on your phone key to pick up the message. Obviously, the originating number should be checked before pressing 1. Alternatively, when this number calls, just send a text to your landline. Next time it calls (it will keep trying to deliver the message for 24 hours) pick up the phone and if one of the originating numbers is your mobile you will know the call is genuine and not spoofed. If the other text is a scam, no harm in listening, just report that originating number as the scam. Haven't tried hanging on when this number calls but may do that next time someone texts my landline - happens occasionally. Bit of a “Déjà vu” experience here methinks.Gatsby replied 3/29/22 1:23 PMThis number called the other day with an audio text message from my electricity supplier - OVO. They only have my landline number as the contact. The usual introductory message from the computer but I didn't press 1 to hear the message. This time I let it run on to the end of the spiel. It does go on a bit as it works through the various options. The computer then read out the text message without my having to do anything or press any buttons on my phone. -
Troll basher reported BT with the number +448456021111 as Trustworthy number
Perfectly safe number unless your name is jack then it's a scam, what scam nobody knows but it's a scam , and if you disagree with said jack he will abuse and threaten you because she always gets found out and has a tantrum .
JACK THE SPRAT replied 3/3/21 4:18 PMPerfectly safe ONLY if you understand how it works and know how to check for scams and pick up the genuine text calls to a landline. Idiotic trolls called all kinds of names can end up getting even the helpful posts about this number removed. That could mean someone missing an important message. -
Angry SKY customer reported BT with the number 08456021111 as SMS spam
Constantly calls. I'm not even with BT so why am I be receiving BT SMS to landline messages?
Jack Spratt replied 2/23/21 12:28 PMSky uses the BT/Openreach network for landlines and uses the BT system to relay an audio translation of a text someone sent to your landline. Very annoying but try sending a text to your landline and see what happens. Texts are deleted after 24 hours so you have lost the original message. -
S reported BT with the number 08456021111 as SMS spam
Got a call from this number saying it was Bt message service and to press 1 to hear message, I hung up the phone. 10mins later I got another call, so I pressed 1 and the message said Tesco and then started to ramble off loads of numbers. It’s believe it’s some sort of scam.
Jack Sprat replied 1/17/21 1:14 PMAs this message never read out the originating phone number, it was most likely a scam where fraudsters spoofed (copied/cloned) this genuine text to landline audio translation service number. Loads of posts on various sites about this usually safe number with some explaining how the system works and how to avoid the scams. The computer that translates text into audio will spout nonsense if dealing with emojis or links etc.anon 13 or 14 replied 1/17/21 3:37 PMyou are called Jack Sprat now ? awesome speak soon old man ! -

Beats me how anyone can decide a caller is a scam without finding out what the call is about! This number will keep calling over a 24 hour period as it is attempting to relay an audio translation of a text some guy sent to your landline. After that time the message will be deleted from the system. You cannot be scammed by picking up the phone and listening. Plenty of info around that explains what to do next if you don't want to press any number.
Geoff replied 11/17/20 7:38 AMBT left me a text about me leaving BT and I have been charged £0.58. -

Yesterday evening and twice this morning mentioning a delivery of millions, wonder if that could be true.......erm
It's Not Me replied 9/23/20 9:25 AMThis is a text service that relays an audio translation of a text sent to a landline. This number can be 'spoofed' but the call will be just like any scam call. You are unlikely to get more than one call. If the text is a scam, the originating number will be scam number to report and once you answer and listen to the text you will not get repeat calls. Many posts around explaining how this system works and how to avoid the scammers.sparky replied 10/3/20 6:09 PMutter tosh ! -

Kevan reported BT SMS Delivery with the number +448456021111 as Trustworthy number
This is a genuine BT service that delivers messages sent as texts to landline phones. I have had legitimate texts and I have had unsolicited ones. The number is not a scam, it simply relays messages from multiple sources indiscriminately.

Didn't answer to start with rang twice, answered third time and it was an SMS message reminding me of a dentist appointment. Think it would have kept ringing till appointment day trying to get the message to me. So was a legitimate call as dentist have my number - presumably can tell dentist to not do it.
