Pariah reported FAKE British Gas with the number +441132989890 as Harassment calls
Had a couple of calls from this number, and one from a similar number. Claim to be British Gas, saying there's been a change in the way I top up and they want to check that the supply is ok etc. I called BG from a number on the BG website, they checked and told me that these numbers are NOT BRITISH GAS. Recommended I add them to my block list, I suggest you do the same.

01132989890 is NOT FROM BRITISH GAS.
If you answer this call you will hear a recorded message telling me to press any number for an important message about my bill (Which I did not do and I suggest strongly that you also do not do) as I didn't press any number, the next message was telling me that I could read my own meter and go to their website at http://www.britishgas.co.uk to give the readings.
on doing a 1471 call to find out the number, I then went to the website of British Gas at this address;

It allows you to enter the phone number and see if it is one of theirs I put the 01132989890 and this is the answer I got
"We're sorry but there has been a problem We've been unable to locate the phone number you have entered."

SCAM!
Lady with strong Indian accent claims she is from British Gas. She wants to speak to the account holder but when I ask her to tell me the name of the account, she says she doesn`t have a name on file! I`m with BG but they have all my details and when they call me they ask for me namely. Lady got arrogant when I cut the line. She called me back saying she would call me again and again then I told her I would block her so simply and one more call and she will be reported to the police. No calls afterwards. -

Claims to be British Gas. When challenged was hesitant and slightly aggressive. Didn't bother with caller further - he didn't know my name or who my supplier was. Suspect it was some kind of scam.

It would appear these people are somehow related to British Gas as they called right after I called British Gas. BUT they are not BG so do NOT give out details. I am trying to find out how they are linked so BG become away of what's going on

I have been recieving these calls for a few weeks now daily, sometimes from this number and sometimes from other numbers, all seem to be claiming they are british gas. However having checked these numbers on the british gas website, i get the message saying they have been unable to locate the number. Scammers!

this is a scam. I have spoken to the real British Gas team and they have verified it as a scam. I was getting calls every single day for a month 6 months ago and they have started up again so I have had to block my phone.
The man refused to give a reason why he was calling - until I gave out personal details such as my address and d.o.b etc. I refused to give out such information and he got very rude and angry. He wouldn't give me his name or the dept. he worked in. DO NOT GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION OUT. -

Called everyday now for two weeks on my mobile - doesn't ring - I just get a message notification. When I phone my voice mail there is an empty message on every occasion. I am now getting this on my home phone - I answer and no one is there and then the line goes dead. I am not with British Gas but when I phoned the 01132989890 back it said - you were called today by British Gas on a non urgent matter. We will attempt to contact you again within the next few days!

They have called every day for a week, asking me my name and for passwords
bob replied 12/22/14, 9:53 PMexactly the same thing happened to me. They were rude and abrasive requesting address - which I refused.
he wouldn't give me his name and refused to tell me what the call was about until I gave him my address and d.o.b. I called British gas and they said my account didn't have any notes on and no-one had called me. -

Call supposedly from British Gas asking if we were in the following day so engineer could check our appliances under the protection plan. I said I didn't think I had appliances covered, the caller said 'No you don't, it's to check your boiler' I then said I din't think the check was due for another 3 months at which point they hung up. I note from answer machine that the same number called again later the same day. Suspect it is some sort of scam

Indian lady said she was with British gas, which she may well have been. Wanted me to pay my bill expecting me to make a payment by card. Told her that I dont give card details to anyone that has rung me up as I dont know if they are actually from British gas. I wouldnt mind but I havent even had the reminder bill yet. She didnt like it when i told her i would pay it over the internet later and kept telling me dept proceeding where going ahead.

When I answered, it was recorded message: press any number for an important message about my bill. I didn't press anything and it went on to say that my gas meter reading was due within the next week. British Gas email me about meter readings and this is about a month too early! Be wary!

They phone all the time leaving messages asking me to phone back, something about paying a gas bill? The thing is, I work in a doctor's surgery and it's that number they keep calling! I suspect these people are not who they say they are.

This is a number used by British Gas... generally to gain feedback after a British Gas engineer has visited your property (typically the day after)... Although still annoying, these types of calls are genuine (although I still ignored it).
