John Smith reported Tracy - O2 (South African Subsidiary) with the number +443301239245 as Debt collection company
I received a text message from them telling me I owed them over £90 and to contact them regarding the issue. After speaking to O2 previously, they informed me that the number did not belong to O2; and because of this, I decided to do a little digging. After typing random numbers into the keypad when it asked for a mobile number, I was patched through to a lady called Tracy in their south African call centre for O2 (supposedly) telling me the outstanding debt of £90 odd quid was outstanding (which is bulls***). DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS - I went by the name John Smith on a fake telephone number I made up and played along to see if the facts were straight. The number provided in the text is a paid number, but a freephone to the same phone system is: 08001116121 - only call if you want to have a little fun with the call centre employees ;)

03301239245 called yesterday and today. Today I answered just as they hung up so googled and got this page. So I not going to deal with them. However, I'm with O2 and I've just changed banks... So quite feasible a direct debit may not have been taken... So I checked payment date and not until 8th, (currently its the 6th)checked with bank and they said all good to go. So I'm definitely not answering this number.... But someone else could have been easily fooled if they catch at the right moment....

Call from this number while driving on getting home checked and this comes up. I paid my O2 bill yesterday, yes I know I was late but the method of payment throws me out when I try to pay on time. O2 have screwed up my DD so I pay when they say I have only 5 days to go. Now this - new mobile supplier required.

Paul reported unknown with the number 03301239245 as Debt collection company
O2 debt chase. I have been an 02 customer for 11 years and pay by direct debit. Due to the number of PPI calls I get I rejected the call and then checked the number- v.surprised to see the source ( thanks to all above) Had a further text this morning from O2 to say would restrict my service. Spoke to my bank who assured me that O2 had not requested payment and that there was more then enough to cover the amount owed. Called 02, and after 30mins spoke to somebody who put me through to "payments". Very defensive staffer said that my bank had declined the payment, which is what I expected to be told as this is the default position when a company screws up, and why I called my bank first. Paid the amount over the phone- first try was told bank had declined it, but second try and the O2 person acknowledged that they had put my details in incorrectly - summed up the whole sorry saga.
I obtained my puk code and will sort out a new supplier.
Something seems to have changed at O2- system change/ too many bad debts / too big or just do not care ? -

Had a text from O2 asking me to call them FREE on this number because my bill was overdue. But this website says it's premium rate. Anyway O2 is at fault because they had not taken the direct debit.
Kyle replied 3/24/16, 9:17 AMHow did you resolve the issue? I'm experiencing the same. My direct debit usually comes out on time. -
sue reported number 03301239245 as o2
I don't see how this can really be o2, I had a call today but my bill was paid on time last week. I'd mark this up as untrustworthy
Olly replied 5/26/17, 10:54 PMYep same I think it's dodgy. When I get texts from o2 official, it comes up on my phone as o2 uk, with this the number is old "uk" or just the number.
Also, I paid my bill of which I have a confirmation number etc. And they since then they've been calling me roughly 11-12 time PER DAY. Atleast 3 times in one hour!!! I received 6texts in 1 day saying I need to pay my bill. At which point I was sure it's spam or some sort of scam that get you to pay them instead of o2. I've paid but STILL receiving these?!

The bogus recording says "This is O2 payment centre and your outstanding balance is * (giving the correct amount).
So I began to type my card details and found this page whilst typing it all in so hung up.
I then called O2 to ask them say whether or not this is an O2 number.
O2 confirmed that this is NOT an O2 number.
O2 are now investigating it, as they are using "This is O2" to scam people out of money.
DODGY SCAM...cleverly executed.
