This number called me today around12.30pm. Guy says he's calling for BT and wanted to speak to the telephone line account holder or whoever has the broadband account. I refused to discuss anything and just said that this number is listed with TPS. This alerts the caller that they are not allowed to make cold call marketing calls.
I have had quite a number of calls from this num ber left on my answer mqchine over a year.
I believe it is a third party 'agent' company marketing for BT to entice customers to upgrade their broadband to Infinity.
Some may offer to make the switch for no extra cost for rest of contract. However, as soon as a new contract period is negotiated the Infinity price will be also upgraded. "Nothing comes for nothing!"
If you backtrack to complain for niusance calling. BT will deny and say iits not them, it is a third party company not calling on their behalf. This is so BT can deny they are contravening TPS rules and guidelines.Katrina replied 2015-04-01 10:57:46I got called from same number saying they were from BT & my Direct Debit was cancelled.
I rang BT directly & my DD wasn't cancelled and that this is a known spam call looking for bank details..Gary replied 2015-10-28 16:54:12Thanks for putting my mind at rest.Paul Hill replied 2017-11-05 19:12:16I am thinking of raising a complaint direct to BT head office about the calls I have received claiming I have missed payments when all my payments are up to date, and enclosing proofs of payments and a conversation script as back up. -
number keeps always phoneing its as phoned every day for the past twos weeks about 3 to 4 times a day n im fed up with it now i just dont answer when number comes up.

This number just called with an automated message saying it was not a sales call and that they needed to speak with the BT bill payer and gave options to press 1 if I was, 2 if I wasn't but was authorised to talk to them or 3 if I wasn't the bill payer or authorised. I just hung up. No way I am pressing anything to some automated voice call. If someone wants to speak with me they can get an actual person to call.
-
Recorded message asking me to identify the bill payer. Press 1 if you're the bill payer. Press 2 etc etc Press 3 for further information. I never press anything as you usually find out they charged you a Premium rate number!

Has called my work number every day for the past 2 weeks, my name isn't on the BT account so I press 3 each time. There is then silence until the line eventually cuts off. They know they won't get information from me, so they don't bother.

No messages, harassment caller
-
calls 3 to 4 times a day, leaves no message. claim they are BT. did some checking. scamming c×#ts.

Called my elderly mother at 9:30 this morning with an automated message puporting to be from BT. Made her upset as they threatened to cut off the phone (which I told her BT don't do) if she didn't pay some bill immediately. I was able to put her mind at rest. Why are BT allowing these crooks to operate on an 0800 number?
-
Hung up when I answered, claimed to be BT when I rang the number. Recording said it may be possible to remove my number from Marketing calls by calling
08000282272. This was answered by man claiming to be BT Doncaster who asked for my account number. I refused and he hung up.

Have had similar calls from this number on many occasion, asking me to pay a bill I had missed otherwise I would have restrictions placed if I did not pay up.
I have kept all my monthly payments to BT to date to the right account number and sort code, so how can they say I have missed, me thinks this is a scam as others have reported on here, and I have reported this number to ico
Paul Hill replied 2017-11-05 19:08:04On the last call I did actually press 1 to confirm only to find the recorded message saying I had not paid a bill, am still waiting for the email confirming the amount owed. In fact on a previous email I received advising of a bill they claim I had not paid, I paid using my bank account online, not the link in the email to be safe. To date, BT have had two payments in October the one for the amount on the email and the correct monthly charge. -
A man from 'BT' phoned today from 08001691608 asking to speak to the account holder. Gave the correct name of account holder. Also asked about renewing my BT sports package over the phone and told me it was due November. Very strange request. For years I have always renewed it online. I refused to give my bank details.

Called today. I never answered it.we did get a call yesterday saying my DD had been cancelled. My wife had paid the bill the day before. Scamming hoofwanking bunglecunts
Jane replied 2017-07-31 18:37:00Nicely said! :) -
she said we were getting an error everytime we logged into our server and she was here to help fix it. when i asked where she was from, she said windows operating system. she wanted to know if i was in front of my computer now and she would fix the problem. 'the server was reporting an error'. hard to hear or understand so we went round in circles a couple of times without clarity until i hung up on her. we don't use micrrosoft windows.
this number rings my landline and mobile quite often but this is the first time i answeredJane replied 2017-07-31 18:41:47Bob, even if you did use Windows, how likely is it than anyone from the Bill Gates corporation would actually phone a user of their system? Answer: really, really not remotely likely! Even if you want to contact them, you never get to speak to a person. Good for you for hanging up. I just don't answer numbers I don't recognise. If they're genuine, they'll leave a message. -
Constant calls. No one speaks. BT seen to think it's OK to hand your number outo.

Called me rude
Asked to many private questions -
What is the point of 'TPS' If it can not stop calls?
-
Called to say BT were charging for sports from 01/08/15 unless I agreed to new 18month contract. If working for BT then typical of their sharp practices.

Survey after an earlier sales call with BT

Just got call from this number and the BT 8500 Call Guardian phone blocked it straight away, quite impressed.

They phoned both my landline and mobile phone yesterday and this morning. When I answered yesterday, I was asked for my banking details, which is when I hung up. I got an automated message from 0800 7837854 telling me to phone 0800 1691608 this morning. I phoned BT yesterday and used their online chat help this morning. They have nothing to do with this number.

Spam Caller
Number rang this morning and automated message saying they were calling from BT and that my Direct Debit had been cancelled & to press button to set back up. I didn't press anything and checked by online a/c & rang BT directly on 0800 800 150 who confirmed my Direct Debit wasn't cancelled and that last payment made.
I rang number back 0800 169 1608 & got message saying BT tried to contact me & will try again later.
If you listen to the call it is very crackly & appears to be a recording of BT standard recording, so don't be fooled.
Never give your bank details out & when you hang up, wait for about 5-10 mins before ringing directly to BT on 0800 800 150 to make sure spam call has got off the line. -
Call received 8:30pm. Asked for account holder, which I confirmed I was. Telemarketer confirmed from BT and was able to state my name (which I certainly had not given), so probably BT or an agent (I am ex-directory). She seemed to know a lot about the type of account I have.
Call was mostly information about BT infinity. Didn't actually try to sell me anything, even after I asked a couple of questions. At this point I thanked her for the information and she ended the call! -
Calls my mother. she does not pick-up and I use tellows to check for her. Am adding this number to her blocked list. thanks.
-
Called yesterday at 18.20hrs and again today at 13.45hrs. I thought registering with TPS was supposed to stop all these calls? Apparently not!
-
Calls several times a day then hangs up as soon as I answer the call
-
Calls several times a day and line goes dead when answerphone message ends. Clearly a autodialer.
Irrelevant replied 2014-06-17 15:28:02Also, I have been on Infinity for years.. -
BT calling to offer me a free upgrade to Infinity
