EDF Energy trying to install smart meter - Sarah was very pushy and tried to persuade me that it would be better if I knew how much energy I was using - I do that by reporting monthly usage!

Phoned today claiming I owe them £191 from a bill between dec 2019 and March 2020 despite me switching provider in December. When I said this she said it was due to the bill being delayed by 6-8 weeks which doesn’t make any sense

After persistent calls, sometimes twice a day, I decided to answer. An Asian gentleman asked to speak to the person responsible for the electricity supply and said he was from EDF- surely he would know who this was, if he was genuine? He was extremely pushy and rude. When he asked me to verify who I was by giving him the account details I used to pay the bills with, I hung up. Unpleasant and very dodgy experience.

EDF have been persistently phoning me at least twice a day for two weeks despite me stating that if they try to install a smart meter I will change supplier, & asking to be removed from call list. Smart Meters are a complete SCAM.

My energy supplier pulled out of the UK market due to Brexit and sold all their customer accounts to EDF, so I ended up a customer by default, not by choice.
They ring about 2 or 3 times a day EVERY DAY from this number trying to coerce me into having a smart meter installed. I live in rented property and it's up to the landlord to arrange this. They claim to have spoken to the landlord, but the landlord says they haven't made contact at all. I have told them I don't want a smart meter, asked them to remove me from their database and stop ringing, but they persist. They irritated me so much that I switched energy suppliers. Didn't stop the calls though, so now they're going on the block list. Bye bye EDF.
Anyone else out there on EDF, beware - they have NO RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY in their deals - time to switch now. Get yourself on comparison sites and get a better deal and tell EDF to take a hike. -
Called and left a voicemail heavy breathing on the phone (creepy) then swore and starting rapping? Very bizarre.

This is a SCAM number do not give out your details and if you have then call back the energy provider and change your details immediately. SCAM NUMBER

Pushy calls from EDF trying to force smart meter installation, got aggressive when I said no and to remove my number from their list. I had to hang up on him as he wouldn't give up. Also had hang ups from the same number.

Apparently in the T&C's of my new online tariff i HAVE to have a smart meter installed....don't think so! Soon hung up when i asked to see the T&C's id allegedly signed.

Calling regarding EDF smart meter, wanting to meet their installation quotas. No real benefit in smart meters to the householder, the main benefit is to the energy company and government - unless you think having a little display showing your energy usage is worth the risk of them messing up the installation or your house, remotely collecting and profiling your energy usage to charge you more at peak times, and selling your personal energy usage to monetise your data.

Somebody from Tel 01914265602 called me at 11:11 hours this morning. When I answered nobody would respond to me. I find calls of this nature both intimidating and vexatious. The authorities should simply delete all numbers operating in this fashion in order to protect the public generally and in particular to protect those who are vulnerable, ageing and/or in poor health.

It is a trustworthy number! it is a number of EDF ENERGY and they call you to take an appointment. It is about smart meter install. You can check it on EDF website!
Looeewoo replied 2020-07-14 14:30:04EDF installed smart meters a year ago but they haven't been active. I had a call from this number today saying that they were trying a remote activation and if that failed then an engineer appointment would be made. -
Should be EDF Energy smart meter install appointments. In fact they also try to sell.
