Although I use Adblock Plus, some websites insist I turn this off and I'm guessing thanks to this my Firefox navigated to a bad page PRETENDING to be Windows Defender finding a Trojan (after the first click inside the browser window it maximises the browser making this look more realistic) and requiring me to call this very phone number. Fake Virus Scams are discussed in this article ( https://www.pcmatic.com/company/fakevirus/ ). When you call this number (I did for fun) straight away they demand your phone number "in case we get disconnected". They hang up on you anyway. The 3rd call I gave them a secondary disposable number. They guide you to press Escape to get out of the maximised browser tab, hit the Windows button and type Quick (short for Quick Assist) and they were about to get me to type a number to authorise them to remote-control onto my computer. This is where I decided I was not curious enough (if I had a spare computer for them to trash that has none of my personal details I would have hang on a step further). Don't call the number. Press ESCAPE. close the browser tab. Think harder about your ad-blocking and browsing habits.
